Workplace Discrimination Against Teacher
A Muslim teacher, Abdullah, was unfairly dismissed from his role because he was falsely accused of introducing gender segregation in the classrooms. The Islamophobia Response Unit (IRU) supported him and helped him take the case to an employment tribunal. We helped prove the allegations were wholly incorrect and we were able to secure £5,000 as a settlement.
Harassed by my Neighbours
Ali* approached us after a year of abuse from his neighbour, ranging from racist slurs being daubed onto his fence, to faeces being thrown onto his lawn, to breaking his car windows. He had followed up with the council, the housing association, and the police over the months, to little success. We helped Ali work through all the paperwork, come up with a strategy, advised him on the strict timelines the police must keep to in the case of investigations and complaints, and we helped him in the drafting of the letters to the police. Umm Hidayah and her family suffered years of Islamophobic abuse from their neighbours. She was left horrified after becoming a victim of hate crime in her own home.
